Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!
Being born and raised in New York, specifically the Bronx, I’d say I have a heightened sense of taste for good pizza.
Who doesn’t like a thin crust cheesy slice? I grew up in a place where there was a pizza joint on almost every corner. Our pizza place was called Gloria’s and was family owned. When you walked up to the counter, the owner’s son Otto greeted you by name. All you had to say was “Let me get a slice,” and a few minutes later you were walking out with a folded cheese slice ready to devour, all for a mere buck! Just picture Tony Marino in the opening scene of Saturday Night Fever, and you’ll know exactly what I mean!
So after many years living here in Kendall, I’ve come to find some of my favorite pizza joints as close to New York style as possible.
#1 Pizza Place in Kendall – Marino’s

My top pizza place is Marino’s, located on 137th Avenue and Kendall. It’s family friendly and you can sit down and dine while taking in the New York memorabilia on their walls.
You can visit them on their website or social media FB page.
#2 Pizza Place in Kendall – Vesuvio’s
My 2nd top pizza place is just half a mile east. Vesuvio’s is located on 132nd and Kendall. A small shop, consisting of a long counter and a few stools, you are greeted by a friendly staff when you walk in. If you want to eat “in” you can order your pizza at the counter and head outside to sit at the picnic tables overlooking the lake surrounding Winston Park. Not to mention, Carvel is right next door!

#3 Pizza Place in Kendall – Mike’s
Number three on my list is located on 137th Avenue as well. Mike’s Pizzeria is a dine-in family friendly restaurant with outside seating as well.
You can visit them on their website or on their social media FB page.
#4 Pizza Place in Kendall – Two Brother’s
Number 4 on my list has two locations in Kendall, parallel to Mike’s is Two Brothers, a lovely dine-in restaurant with outside seating. The environment is picturesque with beautiful places in Italy. Their second location is in The Palm’s Town and Country and is smaller with a walk up, counter-style ordering and some outside seating.
You can visit them on their website or on their social media FB page.
#5 Pizza Place in Kendall – Amici’s
Finally, my top 5 pizza place is Amici’s, a little further west in the Hammocks, this more modern style atmosphere offers to dine in only and is family friendly.
All of these spots are great for a growing and hungry family. If you’ve been out to eat with a family of 4 plus you know it can get pretty expensive. Being the pizza lover that I am, as well as the four men in my life, we enjoy a cheap and cheerful atmosphere where we can all indulge in a good New York-style slice!
